
Claus Raemer, Strategic Consultant
Claus Raemer is 74 years of age, retired and a strategic consultant at Smelty + Partner. During his professional career, the technical sales expert has built up strong international relationships by travelling and working abroad. He began his career in technical sales at the mechanical and plant engineering company Winkler + Duennebier in his home town of Neuwied. Subsequently, he worked for the former construction company Gebr. von der Wettern and the engineering company Voessing in the areas of infrastructure project development and industrial plant construction. He was involved in numerous projects in the following countries: Argentina, Bahrain, Canada, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. Claus Raemer has been politically active since 1967 and from 2000 to 2005 worked closely with the politician Hans-Juergen Wischnewski, who was a close confidant of the then German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office. He owed his nickname ‘Ben Wisch’ to his great commitment, intercultural understanding and excellent contacts in the Arab and African world.
